Part of TH1 Thursday 1
About This Performance
At age 49 Brahms was so depressed that he told his publisher to expect nothing more. That summer, however, he wrote his Third Symphony, a work of characteristic conflict and resolution that ends with an utterly personal vision of bittersweet resignation and twilight serenity.
One of Spain’s most distinguished conductors, who scored a hit in his LA Phil debut at the Hollywood Bowl.
