About this Artist

Nayaa Opong is a movement artist and performer currently based in Brooklyn, NY. They graduated with a BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Upon graduating in 2019 Nayaa joined the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, and was a member until 2024. They are also an original member of Camille Rennie’s Company of Collaborative Artists (CoCA) started in 2021. Nayaa has continued to work and perform with other interdisciplinary artists along the East and West coasts, including Lee Mingwei, Chien-Ying Wang, Huwiang Zhang, Vinson Fraley, Volta Collective and Shamel Pitts. They are an emerging choreographer themselves and have collaborated with s. lumbert to choreograph and perform for clothing brand Chan Chit Lo for their 2023 fashion week showing. Nayaa is interested in the conversations and the memories held in and between their soul and physical form. Through somatic and mindfulness practices Nayaa works to strengthen the union between the spiritual being and the human one.
