About this Artist

Born Case Woodard, Case is a rhythm-and-blues and soul artist whose career spans over two decades, marked by platinum sales and a profound exploration of love in its many forms. Raised in Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Mount Vernon, New York, Case's early life was steeped in a mix of musical influences and familial expectations. Despite a strict upbringing and initial discouragement from his family, Case's passion for music ignited at a young age, with his early performances in the family living room foreshadowing his future success.
Case’s music career began with stints in R&B group 'Future' and the duo 'Black,' but his breakthrough came after co-writing and singing background for notable artists such as Usher, Christopher Williams, and Al B. Sure. Discovered by Russell Simmons, Case signed with Def Jam Records, marking the start of his solo career.

In 1996, Case released his self-titled debut album, which included the hit single "Touch Me, Tease Me" featuring Foxy Brown and Mary J. Blige. The track's success on the charts and internationally set the stage for Case’s burgeoning career, though the album’s overall performance left him with mixed feelings due to early career challenges and limited creative control.
The release of "Personal Conversation" in 1999 solidified Case’s presence in the R&B world. The album, which featured hits like "Happily Ever After" and "Faded Pictures," was a commercial success, earning gold status and showcasing his evolving sound. His 2001 album, "Open Letter," marked a high point with the chart-topping single "Missing You," earning him Grammy nominations for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

Case’s music frequently graced movie soundtracks, including those for "Nutty Professor," "Rush Hour," and "The Best Man," enhancing his visibility and appeal. His contributions to soundtracks and collaborations with artists like Ja Rule further established his versatility and reach.
After a hiatus, Case returned in 2008 with the track "Face to Face" and released several albums, including "The Rose Experience" (2009), "Here, My Love" (2010), and "Heaven's Door" (2015). His 2014 Best Of compilation and the 2016 EP "Case: Relocked, Reloaded, Revisited" kept his legacy alive while he continued to evolve as an artist.

The 2018 release of "Therapy" marked a new chapter, with the single "Make Love" featuring Teddy Riley and Tank showcasing his enduring appeal. Now in 2024, Case is poised for another evolution in his career with a new label deal and an upcoming project set for release in the fall.
