Weilu Zhang

Born in Wuhan, China, Weilu Zhang began studying violin at the age of six. In 2006, she made her debut performing Mozart violin concerto no.3 with China National Symphony Orchestra in Beijing Concert Hall, as a winner of “Mozart Piano and Violin Competition for Young Musician”.
Zhang holds a Bachelor of Music degree from New England Conservatory, a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University, and a Graduate Certificate degree from University of Southern California. Her principal teachers have been Bing Wang, Gerardo Ribeiro, Nicholas Kitchen, William Van der Sloot, and Weidong Tong.
With full scholarship, she has participated in various festivals, such as the Morningside Music Bridge, Meadowmount School of Music, Pacific Music Festival, and Tanglewood Music Festival. She was invited to compete in the Menuhin Competition for Young Violinists, Washington International Competition, and Sendai International Competition.
Zhang has served as a member of several orchestras, including the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. She joined first violin section of the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel in 2024.
