Emmanuelle Haïm

Artist Collaborator

Called “Mrs. Dynamite of Baroque music” by the BBC, Emmanuelle Haïm is a trailblazing French conductor and harpsichordist, renowned for bringing historical masterpieces to life with unparalleled energy and authenticity, riveting audiences worldwide over the years.

Her recent achievements encompass the two Iphigénies by Gluck as staged by Dmitri Tcherniakov at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence; Polifemo by Porpora at the Opéra national du Rhin and Opéra de Lille; Rameau's Platée at Opernhaus Zürich, directed by Jetske Mijnssen. Her 2024/25 highlights include Händel’s Semele directed by Oliver Mears at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, a revival of Dido and Aeneas by Purcell at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, and a new production of Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto staged by Tcherniakov at the Salzburg Festival.

In addition to her operatic achievements, Haïm has maintained a strong presence in the concert halls with Le Concert d'Astrée and as a guest conductor with leading orchestras worldwide, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Bayerischer Rundfunk, and the Royal Concertgebouw, just to name a few.

This season marks the start of her three-year collaboration with the Los Angeles Philharmonic as Artistic Collaborator. She leads projects at Walt Disney Concert Hall with both the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Le Concert d’Astrée, separately and combined.

Her contributions to music have been recognized with numerous honors, including multiple awards for her recordings with her Concert d'Astrée. Haïm is a Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres and an Officier de la Légion d’Honneur.

Beyond her professional achievements, Haïm is also a dedicated educator who gives many masterclasses and academies (Paris Conservatoire CNSMDP and Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, among others). Together with members of Le Concert d’Astrée, she plays an active part in introducing diverse audiences to music through innovative outreach programs.
